Shawna Lake is a graduate of the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Illinois Wesleyan University. 

As an oboist, Ms. Lake benefits from having studied with the late Robert Bloom of the Philadelphia Orchestra, Sara Lambert Bloom, and Richard Killmer of the Eastman School of Music and the Yale School of Music.

Ms. Lake also enjoyed post-graduate study in Chicago with Robert Morgan, English Hornist of Chicago’s Lyric Opera Orchestra while performing in the Chicago Civic Orchestra.  Ms. Lake is highly sought after for her orchestral, chamber music and soloist skills.  She plays in the Elgin Symphony, the City Lights Orchestra, and the Chicago Chamber Orchestra.  She can be heard on Chicago’s own WFMT, in orchestral performance broadcasts.   

As a teacher, Shawna Lake is highly respected for her students’ level of skill.  With 20 years experience in the field, her students lead successful college and professional careers from the east coast to the west coast.  Shawna’s students retain a comprehensive exposure to the oboe.  Her students are often given assistanceships in their college of choice.

Ms. Lake has held faculty positions at the world-reknowned Music Institute of Chicago and DePaul University in Chicago.  Ms. Lake offers her students a concept of tonal production and technique at a young age, to give them an edge over other students.
