How many oboes can I try on approval?

You may try as many as three at one time. 

How does the approval process work?

You may try the oboes for a two week period, from the date I send them to you.  The oboes must be on their way back to me by the due date on the invoice.  When returning those instruments you do not wish to keep, please be sure to insure them.

If you purchase an oboe from me there is of course, nothing additional to pay except the price of the instrument and the shipping and insurance charges.  You are responsible for shipping both ways. 

If you do not purchase an oboe, however, you will be charged a $10.00 trial fee per instrument plus the original shipping and insurance charges.  If you are not completely satisfied, you will receive a refund.   If you paid by credit card you will incur Visa/MasterCard’s fee of 3% for the return of your money.  All refunds are made by check to avoid incurring visa/mastercards 3% processing fee.  All refunds are also made within 5 days of the product you do not wish to purchase.

How much of a deposit do I need to try oboes?

I require a deposit for the value of one oboe plus shipping and insurance for however many I send.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept Visa, MasterCard, checks, money orders, and wire transfers.

Can I come to Oboe Chicago’s studio and make a selection for trial?

Oboe Chicago’s studio welcomes those who would like to schedule an appointment to buy an instrument in person.  You may come and make your selection personally for those oboes to be given a trial.  Oboe Chicago provides a private environment with an acoustically sound studio to give you personal space to find instruments for your trial.

If you elect to take what you choose on approval, there is a $10.00 non-refundable fee that will be charged if you do not make a purchase.

Where is Oboe Chicago’s studio?

Oboe Chicago is located in Cary, Il. Approximately 45 minutes northwest of O/Hare airport in a small town, Cary, between Crystal Lake and Barrington. Click Here for driving directions to our studio.

If you are traveling to Chicago and are staying downtown, the Metra train can bring you right to Cary and arrangements can be made to pick you up from there.

If you are traveling to Chicago O’Hare airport and have a minimum of a 4-hour layover, arrangements can also be made to help you select an oboe in that time frame.
